    תַּרְגּוּםm. (תִּרְגֵּם) interpretation, translation, version, esp. Targum, the Chaldaic (Aramaic) versions of the Scriptures. Meg.3a ת׳ של תורהוכ׳ the translation of the Torah was composed by Onkelos the proselyte from the mouth (by direction) of R. El. and R. Joshua; ת׳ של נביאיםוכ׳ the translation of the prophets was made by Jonathan ben Uzziel from the mouth of Haggai Ib. ועוד בקש לגלות ת׳ של כתובים and he wanted furthermore to reveal the rendition of the Hagiographa.
